Ministry Opportunities At A Glance

Adult and Youth Praise Teams:

“But the hour cometh and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father seeketh such to worship Him” (John 4:23). And so out of this scripture comes our Praise and Worship team especially designed to lead the congregation into the very presence of our Lord and Savior. Praise Team members (Exalters) will be “prayerfully considered, selected” and upon their acceptance, join with others ministry members in doing just that – exalting and lifting up the name of the Lord Jesus Christ in song. As skilled individuals that sing independently along with one another (as one would sing in an ensemble), each Exalters voice is particularly vital to ministry effectiveness. No auditions required; however, Minister of Music offers the opportunity to serve.

Jerry Wm Dailey Angelic Choir (JWD) Children’s Choir:

Name in honor of our Pastor, this particular music ministry teaches and reaches children for Christ through the medium of music. The children of our Macedonia family sing their praises while growing in their response to God’s love and care. Normally, rehearsals are scheduled for the Thursday and Saturday leading up to the Sunday they are scheduled to serve. However, see our monthly “Vision” calendar and/or weekly church bulletin for rehearsal and serving schedule. Children 4 years of age through 5th grade are welcome to share. No auditions required.

Male (Brotherhood) Chorus:

This unique ministry comprises men “Standing for Christ,” singing praises of Christian love in Jesus’ name. The Male Chorus goes one step further by setting an example of male leadership in our church. Normally, rehearsals are scheduled for the Tuesday and Thursday leading up to the Sunday they are scheduled to serve. However, see our monthly “Vision” calendar and/or weekly church bulletin for rehearsal and serving schedule. No auditions required.

Mass Choir:

This exciting choir comprises ministry members from all our singing units committed to effective use of the ministry of music to enhance the corporate worship and praise service. Like all our church ministries, we strive for excellence in communicating “words” about the “WORD” (John 1:1) in song. Normally, rehearsals are scheduled for the Tuesday and/or Thursday prior to the Sunday they are scheduled to serve. No auditions required.

Sacred Praise Chorale: This is a future ministry we seek to introduce at a time as God led. This ministry will encompass a breath of genres including standard classical repertoire, spirituals, anthems, hymn, and gospel. The choir’s purpose is to expand the worship experience by embracing diverse styles which lead to a deeper understanding of the diverse aspects of the person of God. This Chorale will minister as designated by our Pastor and/or Minister of Music and Fine Art Ministry. Rehearsals will be published in our monthly Vision distributed on the first Sunday of each given month. Auditions may be required.

Sanctuary Choir:

This dynamic choir ministry comprises men and women committed to effective use of the ministry of music to enhance the corporate worship and praise service. We strive for excellence in communicating the “Good News” melodiously. Normally, rehearsals are scheduled for the Thursday prior to the 1st and 3rd Sunday. No auditions required; however, must attend three consecutive rehearsal prior to serving.

Voice Of Praise (VOP) — Youth/Young People’s Choir:

This particular music ministry teaches and reaches out to our youth and young people from 6th grade thru high school senior. Likewise, we highly encourage our college age (18 – 23 ) church family members to consider joining this high energy, gifted, talented and anointed group of young people – “Our church of tomorrow today!””. Our young people sing praises as they grow in their response to God’s love and care. Normally, rehearsals are scheduled for the two Tuesdays prior to the 2nd Sunday when they are scheduled to serve. However, see our monthly “Vision” calendar and/or weekly church bulletin for rehearsal and serving schedule. No auditions required.

Women’s Chorus:

This unique ministry comprises women “Standing for Christ,” singing praises of Christian love in Jesus’ name. The Women’s Chorus goes one step further by setting Godly examples of Christian maturity and spiritual leadership in our church – Women of Worship. Normally, rehearsals are scheduled for the Tuesday and Thursday leading up to the Sunday they are scheduled to serve. However, see our monthly “Vision” calendar and/or weekly church bulletin for rehearsal and serving schedule. No auditions required.

Arts and Productions Ministries: Drama, Puppet and Poetry Ministries

Our Arts and Production Ministries are designed to nurture and utilize the gifts God has given us, so Christ can be glorified through us. This area of ministry is an eclectic mix of artists and actors, carpenters and seamstresses, writers and technicians, and dozens of other behind-the-scenes specialists who share a common purpose: putting a face on God. Auditions may be required…please check with appropriate ministry coordinator.

Dance Ministry:

Vessels of Praise (Adults), Youth Explosion (Young People) Mime

The Word of God says, “And David danced before the Lord with all his might” (2 Sam. 6:14). Our dance ministry is comprised of a close-knit family of believers that bears one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace — committed to worshipping God through the vehicle of dance. Our various dance ministries were created and are designed to bring life-changing experiences to the masses through dance. This ministry embraces the privilege and various opportunities given to lead the people of God into His transforming presence through spontaneous and choreographed praise, warfare, travailing, celebration, and worship dance. The dances are ministered as an outpouring of a personal and intimate relationship with the Lord. Auditions may be required…please check with appropriate ministry coordinator.

Media: Sound Ministry, Video Ministry (DVD/VHS Tapes) and CD/Tape Ministry

“Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands: sing forth the honor of his name: make his praise glorious.”

Psalm 66:1-2

A vital part of our worship experience. These ministries together creatively and visually enhance and promote our worship celebration through sound, video and audio production. The purpose of the Sound Ministry is to enhance the vocal amplification of the preaching ministry, singing units, announcements and special presentations from the church clerk and appointed individuals. The main emphasis is to create a sound that is pleasing to the ear and one that will edify God’s message through the preached word and/or music. Sound Ministry personnel must be prepared and able to participate whenever the public address system is required, too include all church related services, special programs and when directed by the Pastor or Minister of Music. All volunteers must attend training sessions as scheduled.

Music Staff: Music Directors, Choir Directors, Pianist, Organist, Drummers, Guitarist, Percussionist, etc.

“It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the … instruments of music, … that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord; so that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God.”

II Chronicles 5:13, 14

Because of our ministry’s purpose, it is vitally important that we desire and seek to have a ministry comprised of people who are skilled in their specific area. However, more importantly, we must desire a heart and life of a true worshipper.

About us

In 1936, Macedonia Baptist Church was organized and so named by the leading of the Holy Spirit, at the Church's first meeting held on March 30 of that same year.
Macedonia was organized by five members of the New Light Baptist Church, under the guidance of their Pastor. Rev. P.S. Wilkinson, who willingly answered the call to the desperately needed ministry here on the South side of San Antonio.
